On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the World Conference on Human Rights held in Vienna in June 1993, the Vienna+25 conference gathered experts from civil society and academia, national, regional and sub-regional human rights institutions as well as representatives from the local level in the Human Rights City of Vienna on 22 and 23 May 2018 to discuss current human rights challenges and elaborate recommendations how to tackle these challenges.
The brochure “Compilation of Documents - Vienna+25 - Building Trust / Making Human Rights a Reality for All” provides the readers with a general overview of the successful Vienna+25 conference with all relevant documents included. Thematic Outline Papers on human rights and security as well as on promotion of equality were drafted by Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights experts as basis for the discussions during the conference. Recommendations of the participating experts elaborated in the two working groups on human rights and security as well as promotion of equality are also available in the brochure.
The brochure includes:
- Concept Note
- Thematic Outline Papers for two Working Groups (human rights and security; promotion of equality)
- Outcome Document and Recommendations elaborated by the Working Groups

The conference was organised by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs (BMEIA) in cooperation with the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (BIM), the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the City of Vienna, and co-funded by the Austrian Development Agency.
