Julia Planitzer, Dr. (University of Vienna)
Member of the Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) (since 01/2019); former senior researcher at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Fundamental and Human Rights (2008-2020); visiting researcher at UC Berkeley, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (Lund) and Tilburg University; fellow of the doctoral college ‚Empowerment through Human Rights‘ of the University of Vienna (2010-2013); assistant desk officer at the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs and Consumer Protection (2005 – 2008).
Main areas of work: International human rights protection; rights of trafficked persons; human rights and business; women’s rights; child rights.
Experience in research and project management in cooperation with governmental authorities, international organisations (e.g. EU FRA and OSCE) and NGOs; lecturer at for instance the University of Vienna and guest lecturer at the University Groningen; conducting trainings (e.g. trainings for candidate judges); expert in EU-twinning projects (on gender equality in Croatia and Turkey, on measures against trafficking in human beings in Romania and Croatia).
