The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights (BIM) condemns the attacks in Paris and offers its grief and compassion.
Human rights work is simultaneously a mission for peaceful cohabitation of all people. The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights will continue to contribute with its analyses and projects, so that the deeper causes of such terror attacks such as i.a. global imbalance of power, exploitation and unemployment, lack of possibilities for participation and lack of educational opportunities, will be noted by the policy.
We call on the policy to react quickly and responsibly. In addition to the intense and ongoing measures to strengthen the social cohesion and social balance, this would also include a profound understanding of security policy based on human rights values.
Human rights are the only universally accepted value system of our time. Therefore, European countries should make every possible effort to strictly align at it the analysis of the situation as well as the developed measures. Only thus, we can counteract the sometimes dangerous merging of religious and political doctrines.
