Access Denied? – Human Rights Approaches to Compensate for the Absence of a Right to Be Granted Asylum
in University of Vienna Law Review, Vol. 4 No 1 (2020), pp.79–115.

Prof. Dr. Michael Lysander Fremuth, Scientific Director at Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Fundamental and Human Rights and Professor for Fundamental and Human Rights at University of Vienna, examines the human right to asylum. The article is based on a lecture given at the 1st Slovenian-Austrian Lawyers' Conference on "Managing Migration and the Rule of Law". Fremuth states that a claim to the granting of asylum does not yet arise from international public law without further ado; but that human rights guarantees of protection do exist, which largely establish a de facto right to asylum.
