The activities of the Human Rights Advisory Board in 2008, 26 March 2009

The chair of the Human Rights Advisory Board (HRAB), Univ. Prof. Dr. Gerhart WIELINGER and his deputy Univ. Prof. Dr. Gabriele KUCSKO-STADLMAYER together with the head of Commission OLG Linz, Univ. Ass. Mag. Dr. Reinhard KLAUSHOFER invite to a press conference on 26 March 2009, 10 a.m. at „Club Stephansplatz 4“, 1010 Wien, Stephansplatz 4.

The presentation focuses on the activities of the HRAB and its commissions in 2008 - especially on the right to residence, pre-removal detention and major events such as the EURO 2008.
The Human Rights Advisory Board (HRAB) is entitled to advise the Federal Minister of the Interior in questions of the protection of human rights and also to promote the consequent and systematic orientation of law enforcement authorities towards human rights.

The accompanying monitoring of cases of detention of individuals in the premises of law enforcement authorities is generally done by six commissions all over Austria. The office of the commissions Regional Appeal Court Vienna 2 and 3 is located at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights.
