On August 1st, 2019, Austria made the institution of marriage accessible to people of all sexual orientations. With this step, Austria has drawn level with many states in Western Europe, but also with the Americas. At the same time, LGBTIQ continue to face discrimination, in Austria, Europe and beyond.
The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights and the University of Vienna cordially invite you to the conference "Somewhere beyond the Rainbow? – Human Rights and LGBTIQ”. The conference will be held in the „Kleiner Festsaal“ of the University of Vienna (Universitätsring 1, 1010 Wien), on 24/9/2019, 9:30 am to 6:00 pm.
International experts will speak on the human rights situation of LGBTIQ from the international, European and national perspectives and will invite the audience to address questions and join discussions. We are delighted that Victor Madrigal-Borloz, UN Independent Expert on protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, has confirmed his participation as the conference’s keynote speaker.
We are looking forward to seeing you!
