Sonita Alizadeh’s life is a battle – between traditional expectations of marriage to the highest bidder and her aspirations of being a celebrated rapper. Incredibly talented and with a gift for communicating her emotions and the pain of other girls like her through her music, she shows unbelievable determination and courage in the face of obstacles unimaginable to other 18-year-olds. We watch as filmmaker Maghami struggles not get involved in the life of her enchanting subject as she moves forwards, through life, back and forth between countries, but always closer and closer to her dreams.
