Main focus of research, teaching, project and expert activities

  • Teaching, research and publications in the fields of fundamental and human Rights, public law (i.e. constitutional law, media law, data protection, asylum and aliens law, law of the police, penal law, minority protection), European law (i.e. European Convention on Human Rights, EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and EU Agency for Fundamental Rights, antidiscrimination law) and international law (i.e. “ Human Dimension” of the OSCE, measures against terrorism and human rights, humanitarian law, minority protection.
  • Various expert opinions and reports on fundamental and human rights items as well as legal advise and representation in procedures before the European Court of human rights in Strasbourg and the Austrian Constitutional Court.
  • Project leader of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Human Rights (sponsored inter alia by EU, OSCE, Open Society Institute, Austrian Development Agency, FWF, OeNB, BKA, BMeiA, BMJ, BMWF, BMUKK, BMSK, BMWA), in particular about
    * „ethnic cleansing operations“ in Bosnia and Herzegowina as well as in
    Kosovo (reporting to UN organs and ICTY),
    * the implementation of the International Convention on the Elimination
    of All Forms of Racial Discrimination and of the Convention on the
    Rights of the Child in Austria
    * temporary protection for Bosnian refugees in Europe,
