In February 2008, the research platform Human Rights in the European Context was established at the University of Vienna. It assembles academics of 12 departments of the University of Vienna with the purpose of strengthening the inter-disciplinary research on the topic of Human Rights in Europe.
The Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights serves as the platform's centre of communication and coordination.

At the talk, Helmut GRAUPNER (Rechtskomitee Lambda), Elisabeth HOLZLEITHNER (University of Vienna), Nora MARKARD (University of Bremen), Niraj NATHWANI (European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights) und Michael STORMANN (Federal Ministry of Justice) will discuss the progress which has been made in the area of equal rights for those in same-sex relationships and the challenges which remain. The talk will be moderated by the journalist Irene BRICKNER (Der Standard).
From the 30th of November to the 10th of December 2011, the Human Rights Film Festival this human world took place for the fourth time, with the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights as one of the main partners of the festival.
At the talk, panellists Petja DIMITROVA (Artist), Josef KYTIR (Statistics Austria), Monika MAYRHOFER (Ludwig Boltzmann Institute of Human Rights), Claudia SCHÄFFER (ZARA-Civil Courage and Anti-Racism Work) and will discuss the role of monitoring and data collection as important methods and means of supporting the fight against racism today.
