Research work at the BIM deals with a broad range of human rights relevant topics.

Based on its work since 1993 and in light of upcoming developments within the international human rights discourse, the BIM focuses its expertise in the following areas:

Human Rights in Development Co-operation and Business
European Neighbourhood and Integration Policy
Anti-discrimination, Diversity and Asylum
Women’s Rights, Child Rights, Anti-Trafficking
Human Rights Education / Education for Democratic Citizenship
Digital Rights

Besides the topic-wise structured focuses, current human rights questions at the international, European and national level are on the Institute's research agenda, and are dealt with at events and  in publication projects.
