This project aims at elaborating guidelines in order to harmonise the collection of data on trafficking in human beings in Europe. The guidelines should form the necessary basis for an improved collection and comparison of data. In addition the capacity of the relevant national authorities and the EU to collect and share data should be enhanced.
The 17 guidelines have been developed on the basis of texts contributed by different experts and institutions and within the framework of expert team meetings. The BIM elaborated a chapter on protection mechanisms and ethics as well as legal data protection instruments in Europe.
During the four expert team meetings in which the BIM participated the text as well as the guidelines were discussed and further developed. Within the project an expert conference took place in Brussels. At the final conference held in Vienna, the guidelines were presented.
