The seminar is focussing on following issues: prisons during the Nazi-regime and their victims, the crime policy of the National Socialism as well as war crimes. In that context particularly the town Krems-Stein, where a rather big prison is located will be discussed. What kind of responsibility will arise when we take the experiences from past thoroughly into account especially when it comes to crimes and imprisonments nowadays? Beside lectures and discussions participants are invited to take part in excursions to sites of memory in that region.
Sabine Mandl is carrying out a workhop on the issue of "juveniles in detention: rights, suppurt structures, prevention and rsisks of radicalisation. She will present recent results drawn from an EU financed project on the Austrian situation.
The seminar addresses especially teachers on history and civic education working at all Austrian schools. Remaining places are also available for students and multiplyers working in outside school area.
The seminar takes place at the "Fachhochschule" Krems. Rooms are reserved in the Hotel arte. The costs of € 70,- comprise seminar fee, hotel room for two nights as well as food.
