The Austrian NGO-forum 'frauen:rechte jetzt' (women's rights:now) presents on 9 May at 9.30 in Vienna the shadow report on CEDAW (Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women) at the restaurant Michl's. The presentation will be held in German.

On the 14 of May 2012 a panel discussion debating the topic of telecommunications data retention is taking place at the Vienna University of Technology from 6 to 9 pm. The event is organised by the Austrian Computer Society and the Instiute of Informatics at the Vienna University of Technology.

A panel of Austrian and Arabic experts will discuss the role and responsibilities of Europe with regard to the processes of democratisation in the Arab world.

Every year in Oromia (Southern Ethiopia), when the dry season reaches its climax, the Borana herders gather with their livestock around the few remaining watering holes; their ancient "singing wells". As the herders draw closer to the wells after days and days of walking across the dry, dusty land, they sing a song which seems to draw their herds along with them.
