Strengthening Women's Capacity for Peace-building in the South Caucasus Region

BIM, as partner of the CARE Austria-Project "Strengthening Women's Capacity for Peace-building in the South Caucasus Region", wrote desk-research reports in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan focusing on women’s development and the resulted enhancement based on women’s participation in society and democracy. The reports handle further on with the equal treatment of men and women, as well as peace building and democracy developing situations in which women in these countries are taking part.

For instance, in the study of Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan the situation of women during the armed conflicts was analyzed on the basis of UNSCR 1325 ("Women, Peace and Security") and CEDAW. Apart from that the present role of women in the fields of politics, labor market, education and health has been assessed and obstacles on the way to real equality identified.

The CARE-Austria-Project covers Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and the regions Nagorny Karabakh, South-Ossetia and Abkhazia.
